just letting you know all agents agree to a response bbefore sending in an email. doesnt matter who sends it the response is always agreed by all agents. if you provide us good solid reasoning we take everything into account.

We may not agree with the reasoning, but in cases where reasoning is presented to us, we always try to provide a counter argument to explain our point of view, or how we disagree with the arguments provided.

I've also expressed the desire in the past to have more leverage with RFAs, but the market is set with previously signed contracts as comparables. Which, as you said, leads me to believe that is based on the low compensation for offer sheets, thus making the market more open and similar to UFAs. Maybe that's not a bad thing.
As for the reasoning provided, it doesn't all make it into the email, but I'd say the average post from an agent on the staff board is 2-3 paragraphs with quantitative reasoning.
NHL contracts are a great starting point, but they have to be adjusted for several factors. Any contract signed before the last NHL lockout will need a % increase to compensate for the rising cap. There are also a lot of "hometown discounts" in the NHL that simply don't apply as powerfully to a sim league. And there are a lot of players whose performance has changed since they signed their last NHL contract.

The staff has covered a lot of what needs said on this issue and there will be a post coming from the staff that better illustrates the process as well I do however at this time wish to comment on the intellect shown into the discussions and suggestions on the boards lately. I am most impressed by the care and time spent on the league by the group of gm's we currently have. Thank you all for your commitment and time given to the vhl.
