Yeah Dustin Brown at 67 OV is just insane. His scoring was down but his playoffs were really good and his value is from so many things other than scoring goals.
I guess everyone has something to bitch about, though!

Looks to me like OEL has the 53rd highest DF rating, which seems about right given the stats they base it on.
At 79, Stastny has the 17th highest SC of all centres. At 77, Marleau has the 10th highest PA of all LW's. MacArthur's overall rating is among the top 30 LW's. Tanev got hosed, but Trouba is among the top 90 D, and Krug is among the top 125, which seems about right considering rookies are always a little under-rated in these packages.
Fayne and Myers both have very poor ratings.
Kucherov didn't play much, so his rating seems about right - that of a 4th line forward with a SC rating that puts him in the top 67 RW's.
So there are some oddities of course, but I think Corey is right, I do think they come out with a fine-tuned rating package later in the summer. Keep in mind that DF is a big component of overall ratings, and it is determined primarily by SH ice time. So if a guy doesn't regularly kill penalties, it can lessen his rating significantly.

Brown had a bad year and is rated as a top-60 RW so I think that's fair.

Coaches are turned off in the Sim. They are just there for cosmetic purposes.

Dunno what stats they use, but basing ratings solely off stats would be a pretty damn bad idea. My understanding was that they were always based off a combination of stats and people viewing the players. I also wouldn't call 53rd a good position defensively for OEL, far too low imo. He also showed at 61st based on my count of people with a higher df rating. People on prospects lists were not counted so possibly one or two more Braun having an 89 df rating when OEL has a 78 really stands out to me though. Like I said though earlier, hopefully the next ratings (if they have one) is better. I assume that we are using SIMhl and they usually have one come out in late august if I remember correctly.

It's always been solely stat-based, with 5 to 10 point manual adjustments for some players in cases where it is needed. OEL's low blocked shots are probably the driving factor that lowers his rating.
