So I am becoming a teacher which many of you guys wouldn't know. I have my placement out in a school in Peterborough. The class that I am with is grade 6. I was talking to the teacher I am working with and she asked me if I'm a sports guy. I told her how I love hockey and have followed it all my life. She goes, well you might find this interesting, that boy over there is Cory Stillman's son. Pretty cool to have a former NHLers son in the class I am teaching. The kid is in grade 6 so is basically 10-11 years old and is already one of the biggest kids in the class. He plays AAA hockey and basically will end up making the NHL when he is older. Pretty unreal.

Great story! Love those little connections. I once had a sub the was former first round pick Maxime Ouellet's mother and I went to school with Claude Giroux while he played for Gatineau.

Stillman had a few good years for me in hockey pools in the early/mid 2000. Always interesting to see how a hockey kid does down the road.

I'm originally from Mississauga, Scott. I am going to Trent University for teachers college for the year, but I finish near the end of April. If you get time we should go grab a beer, just as long as you don't bring up how shitty the leafs are. My roommate actually used to play with Erik Cole back in the day. I also played hockey at Evinrude after Steve Larmer. Never got to meet him but I watched him play multiple times before I went on to play.

Don't go for a beer with Scott, he'll roofy your drink and you'll end up on the beach waking up at 5 in the morning without any pants on. It happened to me recently.

lmao. I actually didn't have to spend much time at trent, as most of my school is actually me being at a school teaching. 13 weeks of my schooling I am in a classroom, compared to 16 actually at trent. Also, I really like trent. I am considering becoming a teacher here as I really like Peterborough. If I can get a job in Mississauga, I will stay there, but Peterborough is my backup plan currently.

That's great though. I pursued teaching for awhile. I went to school for it, for a year. But I eventually fell into social work instead and worked in penitentiaries, and homeless shelters and what not for a couple years. I actually used to teach a class to convicts who were in prison. That was fun. Now I just work part time on the weekends with mental health patients and what not, but being a teacher still lingers in my mind quite a bit. I might return to it here eventually.

Should've returned to it this year. This is the last year they have a 1 year teacher program. Next year it becomes 2 year program. The best part about teacher is actually coaching. I've coached basically every sport team possible. I volunteered back in Mississauga coaching a school hockey team in a school tournament that Tyler Seguin played in when he was in elementary school. Unfortunately for me, that tournament started the year after I left elementary school, and Seguin is 2 years younger than me. I possibly could've faced him as a grade 8 and he would've been grade 6.
