Even though I finished last, last year, and nobody had any issues with me running the lottery, Scott and I feel it's best that he runs the draft lottery this season. If by any means I won, I know there would be slight conspiracies throughout the league possibly, and Scott and I would like to avoid that. Since he's a playoff team, we feel it's best he run the lottery in order to cover all bases and knock out any doubts that people may have that it was 'fixed' if I ran it, even though I would never do that.
I believe Scott will be running it on the website NHL lottery odds simulator and whoever wins there will just be applied to our league standings.
Lottery will be held between the end of the regular season and start of playoffs! Good luck everyone!

I'll be fine with whatever result. If I end up with 3rd overall after another long dreadful season, then whatever. So be it! The moment I start hanging the hopes for any potential success for my franchise on that of some lottery odds, then I've already failed. Relying on the lottery to save my franchise is not what makes a team a champion. I'll likely finish 30th place again, and it will be back-to-back seasons that I've finished 30th, but I am pretty tired of being in the cellar of the league. Next season I'll have a compete mentality, even though my roster won't be strong enough to compete with the big boys yet. However I will be working hard this off-season to get my team in a position to start trending up in the league. Next season I won't be putting any stocks into the draft.
Last I turned the 2nd overall pick into what eventually became Mason, Kapanen, Ceci, and Wennberg... so there'll be interesting ways of entertaining how to utilize the pick I end up with this season in an even deeper draft. ... Will be an interesting off-season for sure.
