Wow, interesting debate. Don't know how it switched conversation from the whole after draft waiver to starting on bashing the staff here. As a former member of the staff, way back when, I know how much work it is to be a staff member here, especially considering Scott expects so much from his committee. I have tried to make numerous claims for players who have already been claimed and received a pm from whichever staff member letting me know that said player was already taken. Sometimes it's a minor spelling difference with the name that I don't see it on the prospect lists or sometimes I don't check the farm rosters. Imagine if I was allowed to post a claim myself. The whole league would be up in arms every single time complaining and arguing about it. The staff stops a lot more headaches than you all think. I think the staff needs to be given much more credit here than some give them. It's a lot more work than one may think goes into running a league. I'm afraid of the shit storm that is going to happen come free agency when people are complaining that because they don't have cap space they aren't able to sign any players. Next thing you know, someone is going to say to make sure league finances are taken into consideration and that each team should have their own personal cap be a use every team in the nhl has their own personal spending limit. It's going to be very interesting to say the least. Shucks thanks man ....

Luckily we have time stamps for that.

The clock extends by 24 hours every time someone makes a bid (once we get to the final 24 hours that is). There should never be a rush to get your bids in before the clock expires because of this.

Lets just assume (for sake of simplicity) that no bid is made in the first 6 days of free agency on a player.
Then in the final day someone bids 2 years @ 1.2 million and he does so at 1 pm eastern. The clock won't expire until 1 pm eastern the next day because it extends by 24 hours from the time of the last bid. Now if it is the next day at 10 am eastern and someone else comes in and bids 2 years @ 1.3 million then the clock would extend by 24 hours from the time of this bid and won't expire until 10 am eastern the next day.
So in terms of original expiry dates.
First Expiry Date: July 22nd 9 am eastern (one week from opening of FA) 2nd Expiry Date: July 22nd 1 pm eastern (last bid had been made July 21st at 1 pm eastern) 3rd Expiry Date: July 23rd 10 am Eastern
And so on.

Gotcha. So basically, if there are consecutive bids, the clock extends on the time the last bid was made, correct?

Of course he is... You don't stack a roster like his without being smart.
