As we did the past two years, there will be a 10% raise in the salary cap for the trade deadline. It's meant to be an intimidation of the NHL's structure of allowing teams to add more salary onto their roster closer to the trade deadline.
Thus making a temporary cap increase to 75.9 million. (10%)
This increase will be in effect on March 1st until the trade deadline.
There is one exemption to this rule. Teams CANNOT go over 71.4 million in committed contracts for next season. So if you acquire rental players at the deadline, which puts you over next years cap in committed contracts, the trade will be cancelled.
