For as long as we can remember, the limit for prospects to be signed is when they played 50 or more NHL games. Of course in most cases, teams would exercise to create their prospects before they hit their 50 NHL game mark, or even create their prospects before even playing an NHL game. ie. mostly Tony did this
Anyway, we've collectively decided to drop this 50 NHL game rule down to 10 games. This will mirror the NHL standards a lot more realistically, and in turn it'll create prospects earlier rather than later. We've run into a few instances where GMs have let their prospects remain on their lists a lot longer than they realistically would, resulting in major bargains such as the Mrazeks, the McDavids, the Draisaitls, etc, to be created on ELC deals when their ratings are already solid enough to be an effective roster player.
These rule changes will be effective immediately. Any prospect with 10 or more NHL games on their record will be automatically signed to an entry level contract. This is establish more realism, and make ELC's deemed more fair. This also will help franchises fill out their farm rosters with rated players.
This will not impact expansion as every ELC with 2 or more years remaining will automatically be protected in next summers expansion draft.

Makes sense.
Has there been any discussion about basing UFA eligibility on seasons accrued in addition to the age requirement, like the NHL?
That's also something that could improve league parity.

I think getting that technical would probably make it worse for those who pay attention less then some GMs actually. Also more work to pay attention to.
Also just remembered, but this sucks balls for my ELC with Sprong. Another reason for me to hate Pittsburgh even more.

On a side note, not sure if there are a lot of teams up against the 50 contract limit, but are people getting a pass for that this year because of the increase in normal amount of prospect creations or no?

So does that mean that players selected in this year's draft. That end up playing 10 or more games in the up coming season. As soon as they play 10 games that they have to be created in the vhl at that time then?
