Yikes. Not a fan of this move at all. ESPN is garbage.

I don't know fully how it will work out, but it seems like in Canadian markets there will be more televised games across the board and less blackout restrictions. Also, it will mean that more hockey highlight reels will show up in US markets, which might spark new fans. Can't really weigh in on NBC versus ESPN in terms of broadcast quality but it has to get better than Rogers Sportsnet in Canada, because that shit has been the definition of let's do the bare minimum and make money for the last few years.

According the The Athletic, the new deal is worth $2.8 billion over 7 years. So that an extra $200 million in revenue each year compared to the current NBC deal ($400 million / season)
