Anaheim (CA) - The Anaheim Duck's new GM Frankie Nosic begins his reign as GM with a bang, scoring two quality players and the promise of a strong season
With the old GM gone and the Anaheim franchise looking down and out, many fans are tempted to leave their team for the season to the promise of something better. This isn't the case with Anaheim, however, as new GM Frankie Nosic brings promise of a squad the he claims "Will be a strong competitor for this year's Stanley Cup."
GM Nosic began his reign as Anaheim's GM with a bang, involved in a three-way deal with the Detroit Red Wings and the Columbus Blue Jackets, bringing Martin St.Louis and Trent Hunter to the squad on only his second day on the job.
"When I got the job, i looked at the squad I was dealing with and decided I have a lot of work to do!" He said with a laugh.I involved myself in that deal because I decided, well, me and my assistant GM decided, that we needed some quality impact players as soon as possible, and the first area we would like to expand would be our team's goal scoring. I do realize I gave up possibly our best defensemen, but sacrifices had to be made to bring these guys to our club."
When asked about any future plans regarding the club, he said "Anything that wins us the cup! Seriously, though, we will be looking at acquiring quality defensemen and a new goaltender. Those are the priorities at the top of the agenda as of now"
GM Nosic also announced his captains for the Anaheim Ducks at this press release. "The Anaheim Ducks would like to announce Andy MacDonald as the Anaheim Ducks' captain. Andy has come a long way since his entry into the NHL, and has shown great leadership qualities during his years of playing. Our assistant captains will be Martin St.Louis and Ryan Getzlaf, as they also share the leadership qualities we want to lead our squad.
With these plans of expanding the roster and promising the fans a strong run for the post season, Anaheim is springing to life since the GM change. Hopefully, GM Nosic's promises will fly high.
