did you run with our exact sim settings?
Wolf sent me a screenshot of the current settings and I tuned from there. For those interested in my methodology I did the following:
1. Run full regular season SIMs and tune the goal slider until there was an approximate amount of players with over 82 points compared to the last NHL season. I was happy when there was between 20-30. In the NHL there was 28.
2. Run full regular season SIMs and tune the shots slider until there was an approximate amount of goalies with over 0.910SV% compared to the last NHL season. I was happy when there was over 10 while over 3 goalies with 0.920SV%. This would also required further tuning of the goal slider to offset any increase or decrease in shots to ensure scoring stayed level.
3. During this tuning, also adjust the fights and penalty slider to match PIMs and fight count in the NHL.
4. Run full regular season + playoffs to see how teams perform in the post-season. I'm happy I did this because originally NYI was winning half the Cups. I attribute this to the hits slider being too high and with guys like Cizikas, Martin and Clutterbuck having too much sway on gameplay. Once I turned hits down, it became much more realistic.
5. Once all sliders were set, I ran a final 5 full seasons (which the results are in the GSheet from above) to ensure everything was looking good. The only anomaly was the Red Wings acting like the Kings of 2012 and going to the Cup final after being an unlikely 8th seed. Other than that, everything seemed to replicate the previous NHL rather accurately in a repetitive season-over-season manner.
