Not sure what my Jackets are doing moving picks, sound like pick 22 and a future 2nd to get Provorov. Where are my Philly fans here. What are we getting. Seems like he started his career on fire and been slowed last 2 years. Is it the system or is he deficient.

He's the prototypical "all situations" defenseman. You can put him out there for anything and he'll be effective. Only problem is he probably isn't the first guy you'd want out there in any given scenario, but to have a guy who can technically do it all with no glaring holes can be extremely valuable for your lineup flexibility.
I think he will be a great candidate to have a 'resurgence' with a new team. He can definitely elevate his game, I think he just grew tired of being stuck on a dumpster fire of a team with no clear direction for the last 3 years.

You can honestly apply that to the Blue Jackets, albeit to a lesser extent. No idea why they think Babcock is gonna mesh well with players like Laine / Gadreau based on how his tenure in Toronto went

Hate the Babcock signing at this point. Jarmo is scrambling to keep job and thinks one or two big splashes will save his term instead of committing to the full youth movement and committing to a developmental coach. Surprised we did not turn to a Rikard Gronborg type. When we fail again, Jarmo can say, well I brought in Provorov, Gaudreau, etc thinking that will fully protect him. |

As a Flyer fan, I love this trade and it's a great sign of things to come with Briere. We are finally going to get the long overdue rebuild.
Provorov is a really good dman, just not a #1 like we had hoped when drafted 7th overall. He plays big minutes and never gets hurt. Extremely durable.
