After discussion amongst staff members, effective as of now, the trade deadline is April 24th @ 12:00 PM EASTERN TIME.
The salary cap, also effective as of now, has been raised (TEMPORARILY) to 70,000,000 for the remainder of this season and playoffs.
Simming will commence after April 24th, once trades have been processed. We hope the new deadline will give GMs enough time to make necessary trades over the Easter holiday break.

could we potentially move it to the 27th so we have the weekend to work some deals?

We've already extended it from the 22nd to the 24th.
Teams have about 4 days to make deals. If teams wanted more time, they should've started wheeling and dealing earlier.

The trade deadline day was listed differently, that's why teams didn't start dealing earlier.
Could we get an extra couple of days? We are all enjoying the Easter holiday weekend with family and friends, so the 24th @ 12PM only gives us 2 non-holiday days to complete deals.

Ehhh, I might be the only one but I already don't like the addition of two extra days. The trade deadline can also always be checked by looking in the sim and checking the schedule. Doing that showed it was day 140 so it was easy to see when it was coming.
Just my opinion though. I can see why the above would have made people not bother to start looking for a deal yet though. You still have 4 full days though to work out a deal. I don't see why that wouldn't work.

I'm fine either way, but I thought the deadline was on May 11th because of the announcement, although it did seem like we were running out of games. With it being Easter, GMs understandably might be a bit slow to respond to PMs.
Whatever works for the staff works for me - it's not a big deal.

Here is the situation.
The trade deadline was always supposed to be on day 140. When the announcement was made a while ago, we had worked out that day 140 would be on May 11th, hence announcing that date as the the trade deadline.
However, the decision was made to sim more then one gameday per day to try and speed up the conclusion of the season, despite the late start in simming (otherwise, the playoffs were likely to end in August). For the last while we have been simming two or three gamedays per day. Unfortunately we did not consider the trade deadline, and are now stuck in this situation.
Given where we are at in the season (teams have played between 64 and 70 games already) we can't really continue simming and have the deadline later, as there will be next to no season left. Not really an option. At the same time, to have an unnanounced trade deadline in the next 48 hours, over a Holiday weekend no less (additional family time, less time online for GMs) does not seem to be the right thing to do either.
So the compromise was made to stop simming for the better part of a week and give GMs 4 days to work out trades for the deadline.
