The list isn't 100% accurate, since the free agents for vacant teams were re-signed to 1-year deals to make sure those teams remain competitive and appealing for new GMs. Our staff and commissioner update the sim database quite fast though so a more accurate list should be available before free agency opens.

Okay, that list gives me some insight. Pretty tough to pick up big time quality players on free agency since there's no such thing as player opting for free agency to go for a big payday. Generally they will re-sign with their current team if they are good enough.

Free agency hasn't happened yet, we are still in the draft right now. Salaries tend to be higher than in the NHL as there aren't any internal cap worries and stuff like that to worry about like in real life, so it just depends how good your offers are.

Not a ton of UFA's on the board, but RFA's make up for that.

I see a guy like Taylor Hall as an RFA and so when picking a team I am basically trying to figure out how useful extra cap space really is for a team.
