SJ deadline trade breakdown

SJ was hoping to be more active than the two trades completed but there are a few in the works during the off-season.
The first deal saw Expiring contract UFA to be Travis Xajac go to Vancouver and SJ 2nd 2021 come back to SJ. Thus deal made sense to both clubs and should yield a very solid high 2nd for SJ. Zajac instantly helps Vancouver and sites up 2nd/3rd line duty along with the 50% cap space retained by SJ for the remainder of the year.
The 2nd deal saw WPG 2nd 2021 and Martin Hanzal for cap purposes go to Dallas. Coming back to San Jose is a young former 1st round Dman in Derrick Pouliot who San Jose will use in the top 6 next season and gives the club a very hopeful shining spot on their defensive core moving forward. Pouliot is a player GM DesMarais has been very high in and has been after for some time. All in all great trade talks gentlemen, I can’t wait to resume said talks in the offseason as we’ll have more players to move as the rebuild in San Jose continues.
