Perhaps. Or perhaps I have a 30G 50pt player who solid defensively and plays with any 2 of Nylander, Tavares, Mathews or Marner for only 3.5mil/yr during what I think is my cup window.

You're over simplifying this, Patrick is a former first round pick that has a real good chance of never playing again. I still think Nashville wins this trade value wise of course; but this isnt as egregious as some of you seem to think. It wouldn't even crack Brodsky's top 5
