This trade is ridiculous, staff should review.

Interesting deal. It looks like Patrick could be a bust, but is still early to tell. If he turns out to be the highly touted prospect he is, then Nashville makes out like a bandit. Also like Foote a lot.

Confirm.. if y'all thought Patrick was valuable you obviously didnt have talks in the same trade market that I did.
Having said that if people want to have me give up less.. cool, veto it and send me in some better offers. From my point of view PAtrick was basically a tiny incentive and Foote was the main piece.

You didn't even put him on any trade block, so how could you know?

I inquired with about 9 different GMs about specific players I wanted. didn't feel it necessary to go the trade block route if I felt I was already inquiring about the players I had actual interest it.
But fair enough. I can do that next time.. or maybe the time after that cause my next trade I also didn't shop the big asset around much.. perhaps to my own downfall but I'm happy with the team I'm building.

I'm kinda with Minny on this one, Patrick's value is at an all time low and things don't look like they're turning around anytime soon. That said, depending on what you think of Foote, it's a premium price to pay for Hyman. Who knows though, if Hyman sticks in Toronto's top 6 for years then he could exceed his current value. Only way Minnesota really truly gets burned here is if Patrick comes back and plays, but... www.tsn.ca/nolan-patrick-not-listed-on-the-philadelphia-flyers-training-camp-roster-1.1494887

I can give my full thought process here if it helps people lol.
Im looking to win a cup in the next 1-4years with my team. Ambitious? Maybe, but my core of players is aging and I think my best window is now. So making that decision a player like Patrick, while still obviously full of potential, doesn’t really help me during this window. Even if he comes back next year he’s gnna take time to get back and still has a few seasons of progress at best before he’s a top 6 player. So even if he comes back I don’t think he ever helps my team as a key piece during my window.
Did I overpay for Hyman, sure. Under rebuilding circumstances I would probably not have even given up Foote alone for a now 28yr old Hyman with 2yrs on his deal. But that 2 year deal when I’m trying to build a stacked team to win now along with a player that strongly will fill out my top 6 (another trade to secure the top line I want) is perfect. It’ll let me remain cap compliant without losing some good pieces I might otherwise and secures me a competitive team for the window I want. I think a lot of my deals this summer have been somewhat similar in all honesty. No major roster pieces out, major roster pieces in. It also brings in a playable 3rd pairing D which I may need should another pending trade happen.
