2. Trades where Seattle would agree to not take player A, B or C that another team needs to leave exposed in return for draft picks or prospects will not be tolerated. Why not? ^ I would say the initial answer is "because that was the rule for the Vegas draft." I don't have a better answer to be honest, but maybe the rule was created to avoid a more specific scenario that's not coming to mind right now. If that’s the case, I have no issue with Seattle being able to make those trades. I was not the GM for the expansion draft for Vegas so it makes no difference to me.

VHL Expansion Draft Rules
VHL Protection Lists Requirements
2. Teams must expose at least one goaltender, one defensemen and two forwards who meet the following criteria: a. Under contract for the 2021-22 season; and b. Has played either 40 games in the 2020-21 NHL season or has played a combined 70 NHL games between 2019-2021 (skaters only, does not apply to goaltenders). Will there be consideration for altering the number of games played in order to fit criteria, since the 2019-20 season played only around 70 games and the 2021 season will only play 56? Maybe an adjusted number, say 28-30 games played in 2021 or a combined total of 56-60 games (as a correspodning percentage)?

We are officially amending this to.. 27 games in 2021 or 54 games total in 2019-20 and 2021.

Seattle Franchise Requirements and Limits
3. Seattle will not select a player from Vegas.Just to clarify, will Vegas be required to expose 5 prospects for the supplemental prospect draft?

"2. Teams must expose at least one goaltender, one defensemen and two forwards who meet the following criteria:
a. Under contract for the 2021-22 season; and
b. Has played either 27* games in the 2020-21 NHL season or has played a combined 54* NHL games between 2019-2021 (skaters only, does not apply to goaltenders). *Game totals reduced to reflect shortened NHL season due to Covid-19"
So we can expose any goaltender that is under contract and has at least played one game in the NHL?

The Staff have been discussing a small tweak to the expansion rules, and we have decided that any UFA eligible player signed to a two-way deal will no longer be required to be automatically protected. This WILL NOT apply to mid-season signings of European free agents
Rule have been updated to reflect this change
