ALL READ! VHL/PHL.....Situation desperate

Ok guys,

I know you all wanted to know what's happening with the ratings....
well here is the deal.

There are few options.

1. Showtime ratings that we currently have in place but they are EXTREMELY poor.
2. BRHL which are a pay set of ratings and honestly they aren't even good.
3. We are too late to create ratings of our own. Joe and Kyle got busy with real life and we waited too long to get on it. Adam and Wolf both stepped up to help but we are too late to put this together.

WE ABSOLUTELY MADE A MISTAKE WHEN ADAM OFFERED WAY BACK IN LATE WINTER. I believe Adam and Wolf will be creating our own ratings moving forward BUT we are in this situation for this year.

Wolf and I joined an elite league that just started up. It involves a lot of very veteran/mature guys that had a pretty elite league years ago. These guys know their stuff and we pay 50 bucks a year for it.
We joined for a couple reasons. First its incredibly well run and thought out and only just completed the dispersal draft. They created every aspect of the league including website. It involves live drafts with zoom, the use of slack, forums and the website. Its hard-core. The second reason we joined was aside from knowing these guys in the past is that they also did their own ratings and they are very very good and literally hundreds of trials on them. Us joining and because the know us offered us a discount on the ratings.
HOWEVER....
these ratings are 200 U.S. dollars.
thats 263 Canadian.

Wolf has stepped up to pay initially for this so we can get going here.
Here it is boys....
First, He also pays for the servers and the websites and the .com we own. Second, I have no issue paying for some things too and do. Unsure if any of you noticed the VHL hat I was wearing last spring in videos but I have those now made and paid for one to be shipped out to our winner in New Jersey that came complete with the winning year and the Championship on it.
I plan to send out more as well for various things.

I know things are tight and unknown for everyone right now but is the VHL/PHL worth 5 or 10 bucks to you for THIS year only?
100% there is no requirement here and I have no issue if no one wants to offer. This is strictly your own choice. Tom also offered to pay half right away. my feeling is it shouldn't be on a few guys for this but we are willing to.
Again ZERO pressure on this. Its just where we are at.
If you are willing to help...great we appreciate it....if not no issue guys.....
this league is always for fun and we keeping it that way.
moving forward we will develop our own ratings.

Out of curiosity why is it too late? Isn't the season months away still? Does the program require ratings well in advance for some reason?

it takes a very very long time to put together all the numbers and stats to create a full ratings package.
Extremely time consuming. The numbers guys can lend more info on this than I can

Hoping to get started in mid-November for pre-season. Just because the NHL is on a delay, doesn't mean we have to be.

if someone has access to the raw stats data required im happy to spend a week crunching the numbers in excel. I've done a similar excercise every year for regular fantasy for the last 10 years so if its just about getting the numbers calculated and you guys already know the framework of how you wish to calculate each attribute I can certainly get that finished within a week or 2.

Just throwing that out there.

Obviously if there still needs to be a discussion on how each attribute will even be calculated that probably something ya'll will want to figure out by consensus. But even if thats not been done I can probably still get out a reasonable set of ratings within a week as long as I can get the raw stats data from someone (my skill set ends before being able to datamine with any efficiency).

I agree.  Also there is no guarantee there will be a full season in the NHL, or if it will be condensed, or even happen. Whereas we can have a full normal season in the VHL that might match up closely with the NHL by the time it's over.

And I am down to chip in if that's the route we take!

The new ratings for the 2020-2021 season have been inputted into the sim. If you notice any errors such as a particular player not getting their rating updated, it is likely a spelling issue and it did not carry over. I will be fixing these instances. In the meantime, ignore the Unassigned list as it'll be inaccurate until I fix the spelling on players affected (which won't be many)..

Also, HUGE thanks to everyone that's chipped in already, seriously are the best group of guys around!

This is something we will be doing starting in the summer of 2021 is producing our own ratings. If you are interested in helping, we can use any help we can get.
