2021 Contract Negotiations

Believe it or not, it is that time of year again. We know the season just started, but in a effort to meet appropriate dates / deadlines, contract negotiations for upcoming UFA and RFAs are now open.

A couple of reminders:

1. any player 27 or older as of July 1st, 2021 is considered a UFA. Any player 26 or younger is considered an RFA. Please send offers to the appropriate email,

2. Please attach some type of negotiation / comparisons along with your contract offer. We base our negotiations off VHL contracts, not NHL contracts, so make sure to look back through previous years for comparable contracts.

3. the Seattle expansion is coming up this off-season. All signed UFAs will automatically be protected for the upcoming expansion draft and take up a protection slot. Please keep this in mind when it comes to managing your roster / free agents. Refer to the link below for expansion rules:

4, All signed UFAs will have a 50 game NTC going into next season

To clarify, the salary cap for this season and next is 81.5 million

Just want to clarify, that the signed UFA NTC is 50 games, not 25 as was previously stated. The error has been fixed in the main post
