New league opportunity

As many of you may already be aware, Wolf and I had been in another league, in fact our ratings came from it last year. It had been a pay league that was fairly intense and ran by a couple of people that I was involved with leagues way back in around 2005-8 so I gave it a whirl as Wolf was already in it and he had also knew some of those guys.
Pros of that league is I reconnected with a number of great guys from my early sim life. It also brought us a great list of interested people for our league currently and moving forward. Jussi, Lennart both came from there as well.
Cons, the league was ran very corrupt, no transparency to the processes and constant micro managing by the Commissioners.
I should have know as I had been let down by these individuals a couple of times going back 15 years.

Well, as it happens that league is heading for a crash and the most active members, as I'm sure you noticed on discord, including myself and Wolf are building a new league. Aaron Sanderson will be taking the lead on the project and it's moving quite quickly in two days.
This is a SIM rerate league so the development in in how you play your players. there are nhl rerate options each year which gives some balance to the NHL rerate lovers.
This is a more serious league than VHL, crashing the sim isn't tolerated well, so there is greater focus required. It won't however be the endless hours each week that the other league required by GM's. But keep in mind you cannot just coast. PFHL is a league that Aaron Sanderson formerly built with great success before handing it off and seeing it destroyed by another.
Aaron is a absolutely gem of a guy, he knows his shit and I wouldn't be involved in something like this if I didn't think it could work, be fun, and be a success for all those involved. It won't have a subscription cost like the other league many of us left from so there you go.
If this type of league interests you, discord is a MUST. The league will have a lot going on there and honestly not just for trading and such. just talking with like minded people is worth it alone. I met a great deal of great people from the failed Beard experience and it's the social aspects that worked there, so this new league will be the same, with the biggest difference is the league will be ran as it should.

There are a lot of great guys here who would fit really well. The numbers guys especially will enjoy it.

I should note, that this will never replace the vhl as this is my heart, however I have spent the past year busy with that other league so taking on a new project like this won't be any more time involved than being a gm in Beard was.

yes,
rules are being finalized at the moment as this is VERY new. if you go to pfhl.ca
that will give you the quickest overview.....
actually let me copy and paste:

"This is a basic breakdown of the league rules. An official document with all rules of the Players Fantasy Hockey League will be made available at a later date.
-Sim based rerates, with 2 NHL rerates per season fo players UNDER 24 years old.

as for rerates,
the sim and the stats that occur within it will generate the ratings for the following season, I am unsure at the moment of if it's weighted over two years or the one, however we aren't talking drastic movement, where a 65 ov player will suddenly be a 75. It is based off of potential rating as a factor to some degree but it takes focus on playing the players their minutes and getting their apples and ice time. now let's say for example, and I'll use him because I had him....
Jakub Chychrun was originally rated a 73 given it was before this year's nhl season. he was ok for me but not great, but given his nhl breakout, I chose to have his ratings done using my nhl rerate rather his sim rerate.
Another example is say you had McDavid and he got hurt for a length of time, or your team just sucked and he put up Mediocre numbers, he may only rerate down a little, but maybe you consider a rerate there.
or, a farm player suddenly breaks out from being an ahl guy or borderline to say a 2nd line or even third line player and being counted on for larger minutes. maybe that's a candidate.
the most obvious and likely way to generate these up to 64 nhl rerated players a year would be to look at using their vhl rating as an option.

I've been really impressed with how active Discord has become because of the Beard-alum. It seems like a solid group of stand-up individuals who live and breathe SIM. I think I'm ready to add another SIM league into my free time, but I'm apprehensive about sim rerates because I'm a sucker for realism.

I'm a ride or die VHL'er, and I don't want to dilute my free time that I can spend on SIM hockey but I truly do wish you guys all the best with your new league. The SIM rerate is an interesting ripple, but I very much echo Adam's sentiments about being a sucker for the NHL realism.

Sorry to hear about the Beard league drama though, it sounds like those that ran it were like the Lahey and Bobandy of the proverbial Sunnyvale trailer park that was that league. Just a couple of nobs that couldn't get out of their own way.

Glad that we've linked up with a solid group of other SIM managers, it only serves to strengthen both of our leagues to connect with other players!
