GM Jakobsen has been very busy over the international break changing alot of his roster. When asked he had this to say "I believe my team needed a shake-up, so I gave them one." All the players leaving the Big Apple are Luc Robataille, Carlo Colaiacovo, Maxim Kondratiev, Brian Eklund, Ryan Flinn and Colin Hemmingway. In their place? Kris Draper, Kristian Huselius, Sean Hill and Glen Wesley. This brings an overall improvement to the Ranger's roster, however it did leave GM Jakobsen over cap with little time left to deal with it. When asked about his cap situation GM Jakobsen said this "I realize that I am infringing upon the rules of this great league, however I am making all efforts to get under the cap right now as we speak in time for the deadline." When asked who he would deal in order to get under the cap GM Jakobsen has one player in mind. "I would really like to move Alexei Zhitnik, he has been really good to the Rangers organization, however I believe that he understands the need that we are going through and that he would be the beneficial to move to get under the cap." When Zhitnik was asked of this he had this to offer "I totally understand the business side that the wonderful GM Jakobsen is going through, I understand that I am more of a burden to this team then an asset and am willing to move on, I have enjoyed my stay here in the Big Apple and enjoy the friendships that I have created, I hope to be able to play here again some time, however when I can be more beneficial on both sides of the game, financially and physically. Who is available for Zhitnik? GM Jakobsen is of course not saying anything, saying this "It would be unprofessional of me to disclose potential deals, when a deal is struck you will be the first to know, however anything else I will not say." Well, the GM only has a day to get under cap, so we will know soon, and we can't wait to find out.
