Interviewer: So right now, you team is number one in the Western Conference. Do you think there is any team in which could pass you and a reason for it please.
Edmonton GM: Ill say dallas is one of them, I just passed them in the standings before the break started and they can always pass me again. It will be a great battle down the stretch for supremecy of the west. Chicago is also close as well so the west will be tight unless one of us gains alot of groud.
Interviewer: Right now, your team currently sits in 16th place on the
powerplay for first in the league. Is there anyway you would like to improve this stat and why is your powerplay doing so badly?
Edmonton GM: Obviously my team just has to click a little more on the pp, we're more of an even strength team who like to pot in a few goals on the pp time to time, luckily we dont rely on the pp to win our games.
Interviewer: Thankfully, your penalty kill has picked up the slack for your power play being top in the league. Do you think being able to kill these penalty's has helped you do so well this season?
Edmonton GM: I really think it does, having in my opinion, the best goalie in the VHL and best defence corps in the VHL help my team alot on the pk.
Interviewer: Right now, you really have one main person contributing to your team and his name is Brad Richards. He leads your team in goals, assits and points. How do you feel about his play as of now and do you think he will be getting more ice time for his outstanding play?
Edmonton GM: I kind of disagree with that. Every player on my team has his purpose and has played tremendously at what they are supposed to do. As for Brad Richards, he is my star player, he deserves the ice time, he will get it. Hes the cornerstone of my team and I build around him. His all star selection shows that.
Interviewer: You have been honoured to be the head coach. Are you happy being able to work along side with great players in the West and also with the Dallas GM and the Red Wings GM?
Edmonton GM: I am honoured to be the head coach although Dallas has been the best team for most of the season but Ill take it lol. Im glad Dallas and Detroit are coaching with me and we guarantee the win against the East
Interviewer: Once we return from the All-Star break, do you think will still be doing well and if you were to choose one player, who would lead your team after this break?
Edmonton GM: Brodeur, hes the main reason where I am. Hes been my best player all year and the most consistent if u dont count Richards. I also think I'm still gonna stay in the top 3 unless something extremely bad happens.
Interviewer: One last question, is anyone from your team going to be moved in order to get another playoff player to give your team that push into the Stanley Cup Finals?
Edmonton GM:I really dont know, ive been sniffing around for a topline left winger to play with Richards and Hemsky, guys like Higgins or Lupul could be moved to get that player. I really dont need to work on my defence or goaltending so trading for a forward is pretty much what I'd be looking to do.
Interviewer: Thank you for your time. Hope to talk to you again.
Edmonton GM: Thanks again and it was fun.
