Interviewer: Well, it looks like you won't be getting a chance to make the playoffs, at the beginning of the year, did you want to make the playoffs at all?
Columbus GM: I made several attempts of trading to try to make the playoffs but however I realized my team wasn't ready to do some serious damage in the VHL so I decided the team had to wait a bit longer.
Interviewer: Your team is one of the youngest in the NHL, do you think this will affect you at all next season?
Columbus GM: Well there are positive things to note that will affect my team for next year. I have the cap room to resign any young asset I might want to keep for a long-term deal, and that's a good thing, it also means I can make splashes in the Free Agency if I need them. Another thing to notice is re-rates, like Vanek will get a very good re-rated for next season, not to mention Kari Lehtonen also. I think I can safety say that we will be a much better team next year.
Interviewer: You have one first round pick for this season, who do you want to use it on and who do you think you will use it on?
Columbus GM: That's a tough question... as I can't really predict who I might select, but I do have my eyes set on Karl Alzner but I'm not certain that I'll be able to draft him, but I intend to use it on drafting a defenseman.
Interviewer: You have a bunch of big names on your prospect list right now, you think any will be playing on your team next season?
Columbus GM: I wish I could say all of them, but I would have to say that Erik Johnson could be coming next year... but it's uncertain. Most of my prospects are long-term prospects.
Interviewer: So as I can see, you are running the Entry Draft. Which players should each team look for to be drafted in the top positions?
Columbus GM: Um Patrick Kane, Van Riemsdyk, Alzner, Turris, Gagner, Esposito, Cherepanov, Voracek, Sutter and Ellerby could be guys drafted in the top positions. They are very good prospects, and should be selected very high.
Interviewer: It was a pleasure speaking with you hope to do it again soon.
Columbus GM: Thanks, it was fun.
