Anaheim (CA) - Despite making two huge deals in the offseason, GM Frankie Nosic isn't quite done with the revamping of the Anaheim squad.
The day that GM Frankie Nosic hired Coach Gordon Bombay to lead the Anahiem Mighty Ducks was a day filled with many smiles. Not only did he help with the revamping of the entire squad, but he is also a close friend with Nosic. The only problem was the dispute, not between the players, but the coaches.
"I just never really felt confertable with them, and I dont think they felt confertable with me." commented Bombay. The two assistant coaches were left over from the squad when John Doe was fired, and everybody thought that they would click with Bombay. "I think that they just didn't like my coaching style."
"This time around, I had Gordon hire the assistants." said GM Nosic. Bombay hired former minor league coach Ted O'Ryan as his first assistant coach.
"Ted and I have known each other a very long time, and i feel 100% confertable working with him." Bombay said, "and quite honestly, i think his defensive style will compliment my offensive style beautifully.
O'Ryan commented: "It feels great that Gordon gave me a shot to work with him yet again. I definetly want to contribute to the club as much as I possibly can, and by all I means I will do so."
The second hring was former Iceland coach Wolf Stansson. Stansson, pictured below had a known history with Bombay when he severly injured his leg durring a scuffle between team USA abd Iceland durring the Commonwealth games.
"If he (Bombay) feels confertable coaching with Stannson than by all means, let him coach." commented Nosic. "I let Gordon handle his own affairs in this one."
"Yes we've had some history, but thats just that, history. We've gone beyond that, we're grown men. I hired him because he has a great potential as a coach and we need someone who will teach our players to be gritty and effective. He didn't earn the nickname "dentist" for nothing." Bombay said. Stannson was not avaliable for any comments.
With the changes in the coaching staff, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks look to be a more promising team in the future. They have already made several trades that all coaches have talked on. Nosic sais that his policy with trading is to have the coaches talk to him and tell him the flaws with the team, as they are the ones who spend time with the players. If all bodes well, the Mighty Ducks will be a force to be reckoned with.
