Hey everyone! For the remaining prospects of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft that were not picked in the first 3 VHL rounds, we are holding our annual Waiver Draft to fairly distribute prospects among the interested suitors. Priority goes in order of the original 2022 standings (without trades and lottery winners, so in reverse order of overall standings + playoff results). A good reference would be to look at the order of Round 2 from the Entry Draft page for accurate priority order: sim.virtualhockeyleague.com/EntryDraft.php
Most of you are familiar with the process, but if you aren't- here goes:
Team A list: 1. Gretzky, 2. Lemieux, 3. Fuhr, 4. Hull, 5. Lecavalier, 6. Richard, 7. Murphy
Team B list: 1. Gretzky, 2. Hull, 3. Bossy, 4. Fuhr, 5. Coffey, 6. Lemieux
Team C list: 1. Hull, 2. Gretzky, 3. Lemieux
Team D list: 1. Gretzky, 2. Hull
Round 1
Team A picks Gretzky with the first pick.
With Gretzky off the board, Team B gets Hull.
With Hull and Gretzky off the board, Team C gets Lemieux.
With Gretzky and Hull off the board, Team D’s list is empty, they are skipped for the remainder of the draft
Round 2
In the next round, Team A gets their highest ranked remaining player, Fuhr.
Team B gets Bossy
Team C’s list is empty, they are skipped for the remainder of the draft.
Round 3
Team A gets Lecavalier, Team B gets Coffey.
Round 4
Team A gets Richard, Team B’s list is empty, they are skipped for the remainder of the draft.
Round 5
Team A gets Murphy, and the draft ends as there are no longer any prospects left.
This is essentially a way for us to extend the draft by however many rounds are needed to ensure that all desired prospects are selected, only done instantaneously via list rather then waiting X number of hours for each other to pick.
Here are a couple of additional rules:
No team will be permitted to go above the 20 prospect limit at any point in this process. You will need to create space on your list by either dropping or creating players prior to deadline to submit your list. However, we will be offering you the possibility of submitting a prioritized drop or creation list along with your claim list. In this case, those players will only be dropped if your claim(s) is successful. For every successful claim, a drop or creation will be announced according to your prioritized drop or creation list.
All players dropped ahead of or immediately following the post draft waiver solution will be subject to regular prospect claim rules, first come first serve, but any claim putting a team above the 20 prospect limit must be accompanied by an immediate drop or creation to make space or the claim will not be considered successful.
GMs are responsible for ensuring that the prospects on their claim lists are available to be claimed. In the event that a team's attempt to claim a prospect is nullified due to that player having been previously drafted or claimed by another team, that selection is forfeited (we will not reassign a different name as that could have ramifications on every prospect claimed later in the order).
Your lists should be submitted to the Buffalo Sabres following a format similar to this:
Team Name in the Subject Field
Claim List:
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
Player 4
Player 5
Drop or Creation List:
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
Player 4
Player 5
The deadline for submitting your list will be 11:59:59PM EST on Sunday NIGHT, July 24. That gives everyone a little more than 72 hours to sort out their claim and drop lists.
Scott will then announce the successful claims on Monday July 25
Once the waiver draft results are announced, regular waivers and claims will not open again until Tuesday July 26
If you have any questions, please post them in this board and we will do our best to answer them.
