The VHL Salary Cap for the 2023-2024 season will remain the same. Upper Limit: $82,500,000 Lower Limit: $61,000,000 Max Allowed Cap Retention: $16,500,000 (20% of the cap) In accordance with the rule below: Salary Cap in future seasons 11.2 The VHL salary cap and salary floor will always mimic the NHL's cap in the VHL's following season.I know our cap raised last summer to match the recent NHL season, which should not have happened.. I raised it pre-maturely, which a couple GMs at the time brought to my attention after the fact.. Once I announced the increase, teams began making moves, and it was too late to back-track. I want to blame covid for keeping our cap stagnated for a couple seasons and for that reason I thought the increase at the time made sense, but in hindsight we have always been a year behind the NHL in terms of ratings and salary cap. So we'll be correcting it and keeping it a year behind the NHL's as it's always been.
