Now I know since these unofficial ratings have been entered into the system, there's been a lot of GMs talking amongst themselves and also bringing issues and complaints pertaining to these ratings.
I should have been more clear when I put them into the simulator that I was doing so primarily so that the players information, as well as new players who became active in the 2019-2020 NHL season, would be in the simulator. It makes for much easier roster management and prospect creation. Without updated ratings, prospect creations, for example, take way longer to do. It is probably the most tedious and longest process to do if I have no blueprint to work from and have to manually create them all.
As for the ratings, these ratings were provided from Showtime Hockey. It is a very well run and respected league in the STHS community, and they can be found here: showtimehockey.ca/
Now when I put these ratings in the sim, at first glance, they looked really good. Showtime Hockey uses a different algorithm in determining ratings and it is noticable in the differences between Showtime and the ratings that we are used to from Joe and Kyle. After researching these ratings a lot more closesly, and getting complains and issues brought to my attention, I do admit that I notice some discrepancies with the ratings on a couple dozen players, some discrepancies more bigger than others.
But there are over 1500 players imported with the ratings package, and if there are only 24-40 or so inconsistencies, these are easily fixable and we can make these adjustments, if it comes to that.
I was asked why we didn't use ratings from Joe and Kyle this season, and it's not that we don't want to. The ratings were just unavailable, and Scott and myself were lead to believe they would no longer be developing their ratings this year due to the fact of their own leagues status, in which it appears they are shut down..
But I should have still asked Joe what his plans were, that one is on me, but on the other hand, I wasn't going to confirm the Showtime Hockey as our new official ratings, otherwise I would have made an announcement about it and not disclose it in the shoutbox like I did. Again, these ratings were implemented initially so that I could continue to work on off-season tasks in the simulator.

So this brings me to now. I understand there is displeasure with the Showtime Hockey ratings, and I admit there are players whos ratings need to be fixed. So the purpose of this thread is to open this for discussion so that there is a public place for GMs to air out their frustrations, their reccomendations, or advice on what you want to do.
We could either keep these ratings and allow a couple re-rates per team.
We could either wait a couple months for Joe and Kyle to make the ratings.
We could develop our own VHL ratings, in which Arizona (Adam) has offered to lead the charge on and obviously I would partner with him to help develop new ratings.
So it is officially open for discussion. As of now, the current ratings we have are NOT official, although I will keep tweaking errors and adjusting inconsistencies I discover, and those brought to my attention by others. We have an entire summer to figure this out, and we can bring this up for discussion now so we know what to expect for player ratings by the time the free agency auction rolls around.
So for now on, please use this thread as the hub for rating discussions. Thanks everyone.
