only one I'm completely floored by is Theodore.... like he was a contender for norris This may go over your head Scott, but I'll attempt to explain Theodore a bit. For the DF rating, I used 4 different metrics and weight them. The primary metrics was RAPM xGA/60 at a 70% weight (the others included PK TOI/GP, zone deployment % and blocks/GP). Essentially xGA/60, it looks at how many goals were expected to be scored against a particular player when accounting for numerous variables such as zone start, home/away, quality of competition, etc. Using xGA/60 (expected goals against per 60 minutes played) instead of GA/60 (goals against per 60) also takes out the variable of luck which means it represents the players actual effectiveness as an even more accurate level. You might have seen the following chart type floating around the internet to show how effective a player was in a particular year. The data is from evolving-hockey.com and compares 5 stat categories including xGA/60 against every other player in the league. As you can see Theodore was an elite offensive producer this past season, but was actually very porous in terms of defensive play. At the end of the day, since he is a defender, this rating package weights the DF category for defenders more than any other category.

Just a heads up for the league, the current ratings on the website are about 85% accurate for skaters right now. The goalie ratings have not been updated as of yet, I am running into some technical difficulties with that, but I think Adam and I have found a solution, and I have been in constant contact with Simon T about how to properly convert CSV files to a valid rating file. For whatever reason the goalies weren't converting, but as I said I hope to have this resolved today or tomorrow. We also still have to scale down anyone who played 0 regular season games down to 0. We also still have to re-rate players who played in AHL strictly last season, but that task may take a couple weeks or so.
So if you see any weird discrepancies right now, just know things aren't completely official. If you want to know a players genuine rating you can still view the current CSV file Adam posted in this thread.
I'll update everyone when the ratings are '100%' accurate.

Okay, goalie ratings should be up now, and Adam has applied the code to scale all players who played 0 games in the 2021-2022 regular season down to a 55 default rating. So unfortunately for players like Kucherov and Toews.... they are basically ineffective this season.
Only thing left to do is AHL re-rates. We'll get that up within' a reasonable time frame. So until we get those up, I am going to hold off on correcting player names and changing the spelling for example, Connor Mcdavid. His last name should be properly capitalized to McDavid. I'll get all these instances fixed in the sim, I just don't want to do it yet because once I overwrite the player rating file with the AHL re-rates, it'll reset everyones name back and I'd just have to do it all over again. So I will wait a bit to correct things like that.
As always, if you see any misspelled names or players show up in the Unassigned list and shouldn't be, let me know.

Imagine paying Kucherov $8,250,000 to sit in the 9th level. At least it's for a year, but yikes.

... Reasons why LTIR should be a thing when there are no mid season re-rates.

Situations like this are part of the reason why I will be pushing for ratings to be based on previous 2 years for next season and beyond.

i was always under the impression that ratings were two year aggregates. kuempers injury really fed up his rating. its going to be interesting negotiating wise when it comes to contracts
